Pourquoi une « taille cible » plutôt qu'un simple curseur ?
La plupart des outils de compression vous demandent de deviner un niveau de qualité en espérant que le résultat convienne. Si vous avez une limite précise — un portail de bourse, un formulaire d'admission, un téléversement d'examen — nous indiquer directement le chiffre est plus rapide et résout réellement votre problème.
Et si l'objectif n'est pas atteignable ?
Les PDF scannés ou riches en photos se compressent beaucoup. Les PDF composés uniquement de texte sont déjà efficaces et ont un plancher — nous nous rapprocherons le plus possible de votre objectif et vous le dirons honnêtement, plutôt que de prétendre que ça a fonctionné.
Mon PDF est-il envoyé pour être compressé ?
Non — la compression se fait entièrement dans votre navigateur grâce à WebAssembly. Votre fichier ne quitte jamais votre appareil et ne touche jamais de serveur.
Does compressing a PDF reduce text quality or make it blurry?
No — compression rasterizes every page into an image, so selectable/searchable text is lost in the process rather than preserved. Scanned or photo-heavy pages look about the same since they were already images. Text-heavy pages get a higher quality floor so the text doesn't turn to mush, but they're still flattened — if you need to keep your text selectable, don't compress that file.
Can I compress a PDF that's already password-protected?
Not directly — remove the password first with a PDF reader that supports it, compress the file, then re-apply protection if you still need it.

Will I still be able to select or copy the text after compressing?
No. Hitting an exact byte count means every page gets rasterized to an image and re-encoded as JPEG — that's true for a scanned PDF and a text PDF alike. The result looks and prints fine, but the text is pixels, not characters, afterward. If you need the text layer to survive, compress a copy and keep your original.
Does compressing change my page count or delete anything?
No — every page you started with comes out the other side, same order, same count. Compression changes how each page is encoded, not how many there are.
Will links, form fields, or e-signatures survive compression?
No. Compression works by rendering every page to an image and rebuilding the PDF from those images, so anything that isn't visible ink — a hyperlink, a fillable form field, a digital signature object — doesn't come along for the ride. The page looks identical and a signature stamp still shows up as pixels, but the underlying interactive element is gone. If the file needs to stay fillable or the links need to stay clickable, keep your original alongside the compressed copy.
