Quels types de problèmes cela peut-il corriger ?

Des problèmes structurels courants — une table de références croisées corrompue, un fichier tronqué ou mal formé, ou toute autre corruption interne empêchant un PDF de s'ouvrir correctement. Cela ne peut pas récupérer des pages ou du contenu réellement absent du fichier.

Que se passe-t-il si le fichier ne peut pas être réparé ?

Vous verrez une erreur plutôt qu'un fichier qui ne s'ouvre toujours pas — certains dommages sont trop graves pour être corrigés.

Why did my PDF get corrupted in the first place?

Usually it's not something you did. The most common causes are a download or file transfer that got cut off partway through, a cloud sync (Google Drive, OneDrive, WhatsApp) that didn't finish writing the file, or whatever program created it crashing before it finished saving. Any of those can leave the file's internal structure incomplete even though most of the actual content is still in there.

Is a PDF that asks for a password the same problem?

Does repairing change how the PDF looks or what's in it?

No. It only touches the file's internal structure — things like the cross-reference table that tells a reader where each page and object lives — not the actual content. Text, images, and layout come through as they were; nothing gets recompressed, rasterized, or flattened in the process.

What can I try if the repair doesn't work?

A few things worth trying before giving up on the file: open it in a different PDF reader in case the problem is the viewer rather than the file, go back to wherever you got it and download or export it again — the copy you have may be the one that got cut off — or ask whoever sent it for a fresh copy. If none of that helps, the damage is likely too deep for any tool, ours included, to reconstruct.
