Flatten a PDF
Lock in filled form fields so they can't be edited anymore.
How it works
- Upload your filled-in PDF form.
- The tool reads the current value of every form field.
- Those values are drawn permanently onto the page.
- Download the result — the fields are removed so nothing can be edited further.
What does "flatten" mean for a PDF form?
It takes whatever was typed or checked into the form's fields and bakes it into the page content permanently, removing the interactive fields so they can't be edited or overwritten anymore.
What if my PDF has no form fields?
Nothing changes — the tool detects there's no form to flatten and returns the file as-is.
Why would I need to flatten a form?
To lock in your answers before sending a filled form somewhere it shouldn't be editable anymore — like a signed application or a submitted PDF form.
Can I still fill out the form after flattening?
No — flattening removes the interactive fields entirely, converting your entries into permanent page content.
Does flattening affect checkboxes and dropdowns too, or just text fields?
All field types — text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, and dropdowns are all baked into the page and their interactive versions removed.
Does this also flatten comments, highlights, or stamps — not just form fields?
No — this tool only touches AcroForm fields. Comments, highlights, and other markup are a different kind of annotation entirely. To get rid of those, use Remove PDF Annotations, which deletes them outright rather than baking them in.
Can I undo flattening once it's done?
No. Once you download the flattened file, the field values are permanent page content and the fields themselves are gone — there's no way to get the editable version back from it. Keep a copy of your filled-in form before you flatten it if you might need to change an answer later.
