Convert PDF to Word

Turn a PDF into an editable .docx — paragraphs and headings rebuilt from the page, right in your browser.

How it works

1. Upload your PDF. 2. Text is extracted page by page and rebuilt into paragraphs and headings based on the page's actual layout. 3. Download a ready-to-edit .docx file.

Does this preserve the exact layout, tables, or images?

No — this reconstructs the text into paragraphs and headings based on font size and position, not a visual copy. Tables, multi-column layouts, and images aren't carried over; you get fully editable text, not a facsimile of the page.

Will this work on a scanned PDF?

Yes — if a page has no text layer (it's a scanned image), it's OCR'd automatically, right in your browser, so you don't need to run it through OCR PDF first. That built-in OCR only reads English; for a scanned PDF in Hindi, Bengali, or another language, run it through OCR PDF first, then convert the result here. A page with no readable text at all — blank, or too low-quality to read — gets a note instead of a silent blank page.

How does it decide what's a heading versus body text?

By comparing each line's font size to the document's typical body text size — noticeably larger text becomes a heading, everything else stays as a normal paragraph.

Are page breaks kept?

Yes — each page in the source PDF starts a new page in the Word document.

Does this work on PDFs in languages other than English?

Yes — it extracts whatever selectable text the PDF contains in any language; the heading and paragraph reconstruction works the same way regardless of language.

Does it keep bullet points and bold section headings?

Yes. Lines that start with a bullet point become an actual bulleted list in the Word file, not just text with a bullet character typed in front of it. Section labels in ALL CAPS — like "EXPERIENCE" or "EDUCATION" on a resume — get bolded automatically, even when they're not printed in a noticeably bigger font.

What languages does the automatic OCR support?

English only, for now. If your scanned PDF is in another language, run it through OCR PDF first — that tool supports English, Hindi, and Bengali — then convert the result here.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server to convert it?

No — conversion happens entirely in your browser, including the automatic OCR step. Your PDF is never uploaded to a server or seen by anyone else.
