Split a PDF

Break a PDF into individual pages, extract a specific page range, or split into chunks under a target size.

How it works

  1. Upload your PDF.
  2. Choose "Split into single pages," "Custom pages" for a specific range, or "Split by file size."
  3. Preview the resulting files.
  4. Download them individually or all at once as a ZIP.

Can I download all the split pages at once?

Yes — once split, use "Download all as ZIP" to get every file in one archive, or download individual files one by one.

How does splitting by file size work?

Set a target size (like 1MB) and pages are grouped into consecutive chunks that each stay under that limit — useful when a portal caps upload size per file rather than per page.

Does splitting change the page content or quality?

No — each page keeps its original content, formatting, and resolution. Splitting only separates pages; nothing is re-rendered or recompressed.

Can I extract a specific page range, like pages 3 to 8, as one file?

Yes — pick "Custom pages" and type the range (e.g. "3-8"). You can also list several groups at once, comma-separated (e.g. "1-3, 5, 8-10"), and each group downloads as its own file.

Is there a limit on how many pages I can split?

No — since it all runs in your browser, the only real limit is your device's available memory, not a cap we impose.

Is my PDF uploaded when I split it?

No — splitting happens entirely in your browser. Your file never leaves your device or touches a server. Most online splitters upload your PDF and promise to delete it after an hour or a day; here there's nothing to delete, because nothing was ever sent anywhere.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Not directly — splitting has to read the file's pages, so an encrypted PDF needs to be unlocked first. Run it through our Unlock PDF tool (you'll need the password), then split the unlocked copy.

Can I split a PDF on my phone — iPhone or Android?

Yes. The same browser-based tool works on mobile Safari and Chrome — tap to upload from Files, iCloud Drive, or your device storage, pick a split mode, and download the result. No app to install.

Can I split a PDF by chapter, bookmark, or a text marker instead of page numbers?

This tool splits by page number, page count, or file size — it doesn't know what a "chapter" is. If your PDF already has bookmarks, use Split PDF by Bookmarks to split at each one automatically. If it doesn't, but a heading like "Chapter" or a name repeats at the start of each section, Split PDF by Text Marker can split on that instead.
