PDF / Excel to Tally Import

Turn a bank statement, PDF, or Excel of entries into a ready-to-import Tally XML — free, and it never leaves your browser.

How it works

  1. Choose what you're importing from: a bank statement or PDF (CSV, XLSX, or PDF), or an Excel/CSV where you've already filled in the debit and credit ledger for each entry.
  2. For a bank statement, it suggests a ledger for each transaction's other side; for an Excel, it reads the ledgers and voucher type you've already specified, or suggests a voucher type when you haven't. Every suggestion is editable before anything is generated.
  3. Review each ledger against your uploaded Tally ledger list (optional, but recommended) — matched ones are confirmed automatically, anything new gets a one-click "create this ledger" with a parent group, and nothing is ever created silently.
  4. Download a ready-to-import Tally XML.

Does it work from just a bank statement, with no second file?

Yes — unlike a reconciliation tool that needs both a bank statement and an existing Tally export to compare, this treats every transaction in your bank statement as something to import, and suggests the other ledger for each one (learned from your past corrections, for a client you name). This is for getting transactions into Tally for the first time, not for finding what's already there.

What should my Excel look like for the "ledgers already filled in" mode?

A column each for Date, Debit Ledger, Credit Ledger, and Amount, plus optional Voucher Type and Narration columns. It doesn't need to start on row 1 — the tool scans for the real header row even past a masthead or extra details, same as the bank-statement path. If it can't confidently detect your columns, you'll get a one-time screen to confirm which column is which.

Will it create a ledger I already have under a slightly different name?

Not automatically. Upload your Tally ledger list (List of Accounts, as CSV or XLSX) and every ledger name gets checked against it — a match is confirmed, and anything that doesn't match is flagged for you to either correct the name or explicitly tick "create this ledger" with a parent group. Nothing is ever created without that explicit confirmation.

How does it decide the voucher type (Payment, Receipt, Journal, and so on)?

If your Excel names one explicitly, that's used. Otherwise it's inferred from whether a bank/cash ledger is on the debit or credit side — a starting suggestion only, shown as an editable dropdown on every row before you download.

Does it fix or apply anything inside Tally directly?

No. It only generates a Tally-format XML file for you to import yourself via Gateway of Tally → Import Data → Vouchers. Nothing is pushed into Tally automatically, and your files never leave your browser to do any of this — test with a small batch first.
